Grow on the go: my 7 favourite podcasts!

What better way to help out my favourite self-improvement podcasts than to give them a plug?
Since lockdown started, I have massively gotten into podcasts: I listen to them while I go for walks, while I game, cook, or just need to hear a friendly voice!
If you’re looking for a new podcast to listen to and learn as you go, you’re welcome!

  1. Finding Mastery with Michael Gervais
From NFL Franchise leaders, the co-founders of Netflix and self-actualisation scientists, this psychologist gets them all on his podcast. Gervais studies the greatest performers of all fields and analyses how we can best explore our potential.

2. Women of Impact with Lisa Bilyeu
Lisa is married to Tom (they founded billion dollar company Quest Nutrition together), whose podcast Impact Theory you should definitely check out too. My favourite episodes are their relationship ones, however every female boss has passed through this podcast. Learn about staying adaptable, taking charge of your narrative and how to take control of your life.

3. Unlocking Us with Brene Brown
Brene Brown truly needs no introduction. Emotion researcher, author and vulnerability professor, she’s featured on this blog a few times. Most recently I summarised an episode on apologising by her with Harriet Lerner. She invited world experts on to talk about loneliness, the permission to feel, grief and comparative suffering.

4. Just Between Us with Allison Raskin and Gaby Dunn
This comedic duo is not quite self-growth from the outset, but their invited guests in each episode range from climate activists, investigative journalists, financial planners and olympic superstars. I discovered them on their Youtube sketch channel, and very few get me laughing like these two do. If you fancy a giggle and a friendly learning atmosphere, this one’s for you!

5. Happy Place with Fearne Cotton
I didn’t know English TV presenter Fearne before, and there’s certainly a million celebrity podcasts out there. This one however focuses on happiness and how it can be discovered and felt for the guests. These range from Ricky Gervais, Ellie Goulding, Jonathan Van Ness and Jada Pinkett Smith. The wide portfolio of guests keep these lighthearted, fresh and positive – perfect to listen to as you wake up or settle in for the night!

6. Pretty Big Deal with Ashley Graham
Body-inclusivity supermodel and activist Ashley breaks boundaries once again with her podcast! I first listened to her episode with Kim Kardashian, before diving in deeper with Casey Neistat, Scooter Braun, Demi Lovato and Emily Ratajkowski. A-listers galore, Ashley discusses business dreams, overcoming your fears and building an empire. Friendly chats with big names, you’re bound to learn something!

7. The School of Greatness with Lewis Howes
A NYT bestselling author and pro-athlete, Lewis has proven himself a phenomenal inteviewer as well. Similar to Impact Theory, Lewis has on experts in the self-growth field: success scientists, trauma neurologists, intimacy researchers and all the big names of the self-improvement industry. I never miss any of these, and particularly recommend the episodes with Esther Perel on relationships, Dr. Nicole LePera on boundaries and Dr. Joe Dispenza on hacking your brain!

BONUS PODCAST: Under The Skin with Russell Brand
This one gets a honorary mention as it’s behind a pay wall I’m afraid! You do get a 3 month free trial at the moment which I’m taking advantage of. Russell uploads 15min snippets of his interviews on his free Podcast and Youtube channels however. His guests includeEat-Pray-Love author Elizabeth Gilbert, transcendental meditation expert Bob Roth, atheist Ricky Gervais and “Ice-man” Wim Hof. One of my favourite’s!

Had you been listening to any of these before? Please comment below with any podcasts tips, I would love to explore and learn more!
